Herbs are a favorite at Lucky Dog Farm. Even weeding is appealing when I’m surrounded by the gentle fragrances in the herb gardens. One of our most popular herb mixes is Herbes de Provence. It is named for a mixture of culinary herbs typically grown in the Provence region of France, but the recipe can vary. We use oregano, marjoram, thyme, savory, basil, rosemary and fennel seeds in our mix. All the herbs are grown here and harvested gently, then air dried.
Because we live with an abundance of fresh herbs at our fingertips we add them to many dishes. However, this blogger reminds us of the benefits of dried herbs in her recipe for Pan Fried Trout with Herbes de Provence.
These herbs are featured in many fish recipes but simply sprinkling the mix on roasted veggies can add an aromatic French flair. Or you can turn a plain egg breakfast into a morning celebration by adding broiled herb tomatoes to your plate.
